CDMP-7000 PC Traktor setup guide
Got a Gemini Sound CDMP-7000 and a copy of Traktor on a Windows PC? Here's how to wire them together cleanly the first time. Plan on about 10 minutes start to finish if your downloads are ready. (On a Mac? Grab the macOS-specific guide from the product page instead.)
Prerequisites
Before you start, download these files from the CDMP-7000 product page:
- Gemini ASIO drivers (Windows)
- The Traktor TSI mapping files (one for each deck; see the downloads section of the CDMP-7000 product page)
You'll also need a USB cable (not included) and a working install of Native Instruments Traktor.
1. Connect the hardware
- Connect the included power adapter and a USB cable to the CDMP-7000.
- Plug the unit into AC power.
- Plug the USB cable into an available USB port on your computer.
- Power on the unit.
2. Activate MIDI on each deck
The CDMP-7000 has two independent decks, and each one must be activated separately so Windows installs the drivers correctly.
- Press MIDI on Deck A. The button illuminates.
- Press MIDI on Deck B. The button illuminates.
- Windows begins installing the onboard drivers. Wait for installation to finish. Do not unplug or power off the unit while drivers are being installed.
3. Run the Traktor setup wizard
- Launch Traktor and open Preferences.
- Click Setup Wizard at the bottom-left of the Preferences window.
- When asked "Are you using an external controller?", select No.
- When asked "Are you using an external mixer?", select No.
- For the layout, select 2 Track Decks.
- Finish the wizard.
4. Audio setup
- Back in Preferences, go to Audio Setup.
- Set Audio Device to Gemini ASIO.
- Click Settings to open the Gemini ASIO Settings dialog and confirm both decks are detected by the driver.
5. Output routing
Each deck needs its own ASIO output pair so the mixed signal reaches the right physical channel:
- In Preferences, go to Output Routing.
- Assign Deck A to Gemini ASIO outputs 1 & 2.
- Assign Deck B to Gemini ASIO outputs 3 & 4.
6. Controller mapping
Import a mapping file for each deck so Traktor recognizes the CDMP-7000's controls:
- In Preferences, go to Controller Manager.
- Click Add, then Import, and load the first Traktor TSI file.
- For the imported mapping, set In-Port and Out-Port to CDMP-7000 L (Left Deck), and set Device Target to Deck A.
- Click Add, then Import again, and load the second TSI file.
- For the second mapping, set In-Port and Out-Port to CDMP-7000 R (Right Deck), and set Device Target to Deck B.
Tip: if you're new to Traktor, set up one deck at a time, test that it works, then add the second. It's much easier to debug a single deck than two at once.
7. Final mixer-channel check
On the CDMP-7000 itself, verify the physical mixer-channel toggles:
- Set Channel 2 to 1 (Left Deck).
- Set Channel 3 to 2 (Right Deck).
Channels 2 and 3 carry the Traktor output for external sound.
You're ready to mix
If something's off, check the usual suspects: both MIDI buttons should be lit, Gemini ASIO should be selected as the audio device, and the Output Routing assignments should match the channel toggles on the unit.
