Active PA Speakers - Rear of unit heating up

If the rear of your Gemini speaker feels hot during use, that’s usually normal and expected. Many Gemini models—including the GSP Series (GSP-2200, GSP-L2200PK, GSP-5500, GSP-L5500PK) and AS Series 12" and 15" speakers—are equipped with built-in heat sinks designed to manage internal heat.

These heat sinks help regulate temperature by dissipating heat from the amplifier and other components. As a result, the rear panel of the speaker may become warm or even quite hot during extended use or high-volume playback.

What’s normal:

  • Warm to hot surface at the rear of the speaker
  • Heat increasing with longer or louder use

What’s not normal:

  • Burning smell or visible smoke
  • Speaker shutting down unexpectedly
  • Rear panel too hot to touch safely

If you notice any of the abnormal signs above, stop using the unit and reach out to https://support.geminisound.com for help.
