G2V, G4V - Troubleshooting Guide

The Gemini G2V and G4V are USB-powered MIDI DJ controllers designed for use with Virtual DJ and other compatible software. The G2V is a 2-channel controller, while the G4V expands to 4 channels. Both feature touch-sensitive jog wheels, performance pads, built-in audio interfaces, and robust metal construction.

Quick Fixes (Under 30 Seconds)

  • Restart controller and DJ software
  • Try a different USB port or cable
  • Use direct USB connection (avoid hubs)
  • Update ASIO drivers and DJ software
  • Check MIDI recognition in OS settings

Common Issues & Solutions

1. Controller Not Powering On

Symptom: No lights, no response
Solution: Use a powered USB port or wall adapter - Replace USB cable - If still unresponsive, internal power components may need servicing

2. Not Recognized by Software

Symptom: Virtual DJ or Traktor doesn’t detect the controller
Solution: Power on controller before launching software - Install Gemini ASIO drivers from Gemini Downloads - Use correct mapping files for Traktor or Virtual DJ - Check MIDI device list in your OS

3. No Sound Output

Symptom: No audio from speakers or headphones
Solution: Confirm master and booth outputs are connected properly - Set mixer knobs and faders to mid-level - In Virtual DJ, select “Use Soundcard” when prompted - Check audio routing in software settings

4. Jog Wheels or Pads Not Responding

Symptom: Jog wheels don’t scratch, pads don’t trigger
Solution: Enable touch sensitivity in software - Reinstall or remap MIDI functions - Test with another DJ software

5. Lighting or Display Issues

Symptom: LEDs stay on or don’t respond
Solution: Reset controller to factory settings - Unplug for 30 seconds before reconnecting - Persistent issues may indicate hardware faults

Prevention Tips

  • Safely eject controller before unplugging
  • Avoid unpowered USB hubs
  • Keep firmware and DJ software updated
  • Store in a dry, padded case
  • Clean faders and knobs regularly
