CDMP-7000 Virtual DJ setup guide
Pairing the Gemini Sound CDMP-7000 dual-deck media player with Virtual DJ on Windows is straightforward, but the order matters. Install the ASIO drivers before you open Virtual DJ, activate each deck one at a time, and you'll be mixing in about 10 minutes.
What you'll need
Download all three files first:
1. Install the ASIO drivers first
Before you open Virtual DJ, run the Gemini ASIO setup executable and finish the install. If you do this out of order, Virtual DJ won't see the audio device.
2. Connect the hardware
- Launch Virtual DJ.
- Connect the included power adapter and a USB cable to the CDMP-7000.
- Plug the unit into AC power.
- Plug the USB cable into an available USB port on your computer.
- Power on the unit. By default it boots into CD mode.
3. Activate each deck, one at a time
The CDMP-7000 has two independent decks. Activate them one after the other so Virtual DJ registers each one separately:
- Press the MIDI button on the left deck. Wait for the on-screen notification confirming Virtual DJ has detected the unit.
- Press the MIDI button on the right deck. Wait for a second notification confirming the second deck.
4. Configure the audio
- Click the gear icon (top-right of the Virtual DJ window) and select Audio.
- Open the Gemini ASIO Settings dialog by clicking one of the ASIO icons next to Deck 1 or Deck 2.
- Confirm Virtual DJ is reading both decks as separate controllers, with each deck assigned to its own ASIO channel pair.
5. Check the mixer channels
On the CDMP-7000, set the physical mixer-channel toggles:
- Channel 2: set to 1 (left deck)
- Channel 3: set to 2 (right deck)
Channels 2 and 3 carry the Virtual DJ output for external sound.
