PMX-20: DVS controls for VirtualDJ
This guide walks you through setting up DVS (Digital Vinyl System) control on the Gemini Sound PMX-20 with VirtualDJ, so you can drive tracks in the software from timecode turntables or media players.
Before you start
VirtualDJ only works with its own timecode media:
To get full functionality from your PMX mixer, download VirtualDJ LE and enter the license key that came with your purchase: https://www.virtualdj.com/le/
Set up DVS on the PMX-20
When you use DVS mode with the PMX-20, you'll need to plug your headphones into your computer to use headphone cueing.
- Connect your timecode players (turntables with timecode vinyl, or a media player with timecode MP3) to Channels 1 and 2.
- Connect the PMX-20 to your computer with a USB cable.
- Power on the PMX-20 and your timecode players.
- To enter DVS mode on the mixer, hold the Channel 1 USB button down until it flashes (10 or more seconds).
- Launch VirtualDJ.
- When prompted, select "PMX20 DVS" and click "OK".
- Open VirtualDJ preferences.

- Confirm that the following settings are selected:
- Outputs = Separate Decks
- Hardware = Gemini PMX-20
- Inputs = Timecode Signal
- Under the output section, press "+" to add another output, then select "Headphones" and your computer's built-in output.

- Click Apply.
- Load a timecode disc, MP3, or vinyl on your players.
- Once tracks are loaded into Deck 1 or Deck 2 in VirtualDJ, you can control playback from your timecode players.
- With headphones plugged into your computer's built-in output, cueing is now enabled. Use your computer's volume control to adjust the headphone output.
