DRP-1: My recordings all sound slightly distorted. What can I do?
Slight distortion on every recording almost always means your input level is too hot. The signal is clipping before it even hits the recording. Here is how to bring it back under control on the Gemini Sound DRP-1.
Lower the input gain
Switch the input gain switch to its lower position. This drops the incoming level so the signal stops overloading, and it clears up most distortion on its own.
Turn on automatic gain control
If you would rather let the recorder manage the level for you, use the built-in automatic gain control (AGC). You can turn it on while the unit is in record mode:
- Put the DRP-1 in record mode.
- Press and hold the Stop button until the letters AGC appear on the screen.
With AGC on, the recorder adjusts your input gain automatically as the sound gets louder or quieter. To turn it off, press and hold the Stop button again while in record mode.
