CDJ-700 Traktor setup guide
Pairing a Gemini Sound CDJ-700 with Native Instruments Traktor on Windows takes about 10 minutes once you know the order. The CDJ-700 is a single-deck player, so if you have two (or four) of them, you'll repeat the controller-mapping step for each.
Prerequisites
Download these from the CDJ-700 product page:
- Gemini ASIO drivers (Windows)
- Traktor TSI mapping file
You'll also need a USB cable and an installed copy of Native Instruments Traktor.
1. Connect the hardware
- Connect the included power cable to the CDJ-700.
- Connect a USB cable from the CDJ-700 to an available USB port on your computer.
- Power on the unit. By default it boots into CD mode.
2. Switch to MIDI mode
- Press the MIDI button on the CDJ-700.
- If this is the first time you've connected this unit to this PC, Windows installs the Gemini drivers. Wait for installation to finish. Do not unplug or power off the unit during this process.
3. Run the Traktor Setup Wizard
- Launch Traktor and open Preferences.
- Click Setup Wizard at the bottom-left.
- When asked "Are you using an external mixer?", select Yes. (The CDJ-700 is a media player and pairs with an external mixer.)
- For the layout, choose 2 Track Decks or 4 Track Decks. Pick the number that matches how many CDJ-700 units you have.
- Finish the wizard.
4. Audio setup
- In Preferences, go to Audio Setup.
- Set Audio Device to Gemini ASIO.
5. Output routing
Each deck gets its own pair of ASIO outputs:
- In Preferences, go to Output Routing.
- Assign Deck A to Gemini ASIO outputs 1 & 2.
- If you've added a second CDJ-700, assign Deck B to outputs 3 & 4. Continue the same way for additional decks.
6. Controller mapping
- In Preferences, go to Controller Manager.
- Click Add, then Import, and load the Traktor TSI file you downloaded.
- Set In-Port and Out-Port to the correct CDJ-700.
- Set Device Target (focus) to Deck A.
- If you have additional decks, repeat: import another TSI file, assign In/Out ports to the appropriate CDJ-700, and set Device Target to Deck B (or C, D).
Tip: setting up one deck at a time is much easier than configuring several at once. Get one working, then add the next.
