My audio CDs are skipping
If a disc skips or stutters when you play it, the problem is almost always the disc surface or your player's firmware. Work through these steps in order.
Clean the disc
Dust, fingerprints, and grime are the most common cause of skipping. Wipe the playing side with a soft, lint-free cloth and a little water, working gently from the center of the disc straight out to the edge (not in circles). Dry it the same way before you load it again.
Use a disc-cleaning CD
If a manual wipe does not fix it, run a disc-cleaning CD through the player. That clears any dust or particles left on the lens and the disc that a cloth can miss.
Update your firmware
If clean discs still skip, your player may be running out-of-date firmware. Check your unit's product page for the latest available firmware and install it, then test the disc again.
