MDJ-900, MDJ-1000 – Connecting to DJ Software via MIDI or HID Troubleshooting
Gemini MDJ-900 and MDJ-1000 can function as MIDI/HID controllers for DJ software, allowing advanced control and audio routing. This guide explains how to connect and configure these units for seamless integration.
Connecting via MIDI
- Plug a USB cable from the unit’s USB OUT port to your computer.
- Press the MIDI source button on the MDJ unit to enable MIDI mode.
- Wait for your computer to detect the device:
- Windows: Uses standard WDM drivers automatically. For low-latency performance, download ASIO drivers from https://geminisound.com.
- Mac: Uses Core Audio drivers automatically.
- Open your DJ software and select:
- MDJ-900 or MDJ-1000 as MIDI device
- MDJ-900 or MDJ-1000 as audio output device
- If needed, adjust MIDI Channel in Settings:
- Navigate to Settings > MIDI Channel
- Choose a channel (0–15) to avoid conflicts with other devices.
Connecting via HID
- HID mode offers higher resolution and faster communication than MIDI.
- To enable HID:
- Disable MIDI devices in your DJ software.
- Search for HID devices; select MDJ-900 or MDJ-1000.
- HID is supported by software such as VirtualDJ, enabling screen feedback and advanced control.
Audio Configuration
- Both units allow selecting audio bit depth and sample rate:
- Options: 24-bit/192kHz, 24-bit/96kHz, 24-bit/48kHz, 16-bit/44.1kHz
- To change:
- Press Settings while in MIDI mode.
- Scroll to Sound Card, select desired option, and confirm.
