Gemini G2V and G4V Traktor setup guide
If you just got a Gemini G2V or G4V and want to run it in Traktor, here is the whole setup in one place: install the driver, connect the controller, point Traktor's audio at it, and import the mapping file so the pads, jog wheels, and faders all work. It takes about ten minutes, and these steps cover both the 2-channel G2V and the 4-channel G4V.
What you need
- Your Gemini G2V or G4V controller, with its USB cable and power adapter
- A computer running Native Instruments Traktor Pro
- The Gemini ASIO driver (Windows only) and the Traktor mapping file for your model, both from the Gemini downloads page
On a Mac you do not need the ASIO driver. The G2V and G4V are class-compliant 24-bit audio interfaces, so macOS recognizes them on its own. You will still import the Traktor mapping file in the steps below.
1. Download the driver and the mapping file
From the Gemini downloads page, get the Gemini ASIO driver (Windows) and the Traktor mapping file (a .tsi file) for your controller. Save them somewhere easy to find, like your desktop. On Windows, run the ASIO driver installer before you plug the controller in.
2. Connect the controller
Plug the power adapter into the controller, then connect the USB cable from the controller to an open USB port on your computer. A port directly on the computer is more reliable than a hub. Power the unit on.
3. Let the drivers install (Windows)
The first time you connect it, Windows installs the controller's drivers. Give it a minute, and do not unplug or power off the unit while it is working. Once it finishes, you are ready to open Traktor. On a Mac there is nothing to install here.
4. Open Traktor and run the Setup Wizard
Launch Traktor, open Preferences, and start the Setup Wizard from the lower-left of the dialog. Answer the prompts like this:
- Are you using an external controller? Choose No. You will import the Gemini mapping by hand in step 6, which is the reliable way to do it for these controllers.
- Are you using an external mixer? Choose No.
- Select your setup: choose 2 track decks for the G2V, or 4 track decks for the G4V.
5. Set Traktor's audio device
Back in Preferences, open Audio Setup and choose your controller as the audio device: the Gemini ASIO driver on Windows, or the G2V or G4V under CoreAudio on a Mac. Then open Output Routing and send your main output to the controller's outputs so sound plays through it.
6. Import the Traktor mapping file
Open Controller Manager in Preferences. Under Device, use Add, then Import Other to load the .tsi mapping file you downloaded. After it loads:
- Set the In-Port and Out-Port to your G2V or G4V.
- Set the device target to Focus.
That maps the jog wheels, performance pads, faders, and transport controls to Traktor.
7. Test it
Load a track onto a deck and check that the jog wheel, play, cue, and the channel fader all respond. If they do, you are set. If a control is not responding, re-open Controller Manager and confirm the In-Port, Out-Port, and the Focus target are still set to your controller.
Still stuck?
If the controller is not showing up or audio will not pass, work through the G2V and G4V troubleshooting guide. You can find both controllers, the G2V and the G4V, on the DJ controllers page.
